The Splendor of Genoa
The trip to Genoa, is as scenic and engaging as the city itself. The sea along this eastern portion of the Italian Riviera is particularly beautiful, as it gently laps the shore. Your walking tour begins in the heart of the old city on the pedestrian-only Strada Nuova, a street flanked by some of Genoa's most magnificent palaces. On Via Garibaldi, a thoroughfare so ornate and elegant, it will seem like you are walking through an open-air museum. As a special treat, you will tour three of Genoa's most precious architectural gems, which contain priceless artistic masterpieces. In Palazzo Bianco, you will see paintings by Van Dyck, Caravaggio and Rubens. Palazzo Doria Tursi is esteemed for its magnificently furnished public rooms. More splendid interiors and paintings by Veronese and Guercino await you at the Palazzo Rosso. In your free time, you might enjoy lunch or a shopping spree.
